Education Psychology Service
The Educational Psychology Service provides psychological support for children referred by schools, pre-school settings or colleges.
Involvement may include:
- Consultation and psychological advice - individual, group, and whole school issues.
- Psychological assessments - using a range of methods to inform interventions.
- Psychological interventions - to promote psychological wellbeing, social, emotional, and behavioural development and to raise educational standards.
- Delivery of professional development and training - to be able to support others' learning, knowledge, and practice.
- Support around critical incidents and bereavement.
Educational psychologists can review progress following implementation of agreed strategies.
They can also offer parents suggestions about how they can help their child's development and learning.
If you are concerned about your child, please contact their school, childcare facility or college.
The school or setting will be able to intervene and monitor progress. If the difficulties persist, the Additional Learning Need Co-ordinator will inform the Educational Psychology Service and request a consultation.
