Paying for residential/resident nursing care
If you do not currently receive social care services, the first step is to find out if you need care in a residential care or resident nursing home.
If you wish to have your needs assessed, please contact 01495 762200.
Residential care
Once it is established that you do need to move into a residential care we need to work out how much you can afford to pay.
If you have the ability to pay for your own care fees and do not need help to make the arrangements, you can go ahead and discuss the cost directly with the home of your choice. However, paying for your own residential care is a considerable financial commitment and it is possible that you will need help to pay future fees.
If you do need help to pay the residential care home’s fees, we will ask you to complete a financial assessment.
More detailed information about how we assess charges for residential care is contained in our leaflet Paying for residential care
Resident nursing care
If you are assessed as needing resident nursing care, you will be asked to pay a charge for the residential/accommodation element of your care calculated on your income.
You will not be asked to pay for the nursing element of your care – this will be paid by Aneurin Bevan Health Board.
More detailed information about how we assess charges for the residential/accommodation element of your fees is contained in our leaflet Paying for residential care
