School Admissions - Secondary

Overview

There are four English medium, one Welsh medium and one faith-based schools within Torfaen managed by the council.

Governing bodies of voluntary aided/faith schools within Torfaen have responsibility for their own admission arrangements and application forms must be requested directly from the school and returned to the school of your choice.

Eligibility

Children normally transfer from primary to secondary school at the start of the school year in which their twelfth birthday falls (i.e. 1 September to 31 August inclusive).

Apply – September 2025 admissions

• Online applications will go live on Wednesday 25 September 2024 (9.00am)
• Closing date for applications - Wednesday 13 November 2024 (5pm)
• Decision date – Monday 3 March 2025

Late 2025 admissions

To make a late Secondary application for September 2025 please download and complete the Secondary School Admission Form and return it to school.admissions@torfaen.gov.uk
