School Admissions - Secondary

Overview

There are four English medium, one Welsh medium and one faith-based schools within Torfaen managed by the council.

St. Albans RC High School is the regional Roman Catholic Secondary provision for Torfaen. Applications to St Alban’s RC High School, should be made directly via their website.

Eligibility

Children normally transfer from primary to secondary school at the start of the school year in which their twelfth birthday falls (i.e. 1 September to 31 August inclusive).

Admission dates 2027

• Online applications will go live - 18th September 2026 (9am)
• Closing date for applications - 30th October 2026 (5pm)
• Decision date –  1st March 2027

Late 2026 admissions

The closing date for placements in September 2026 has now passed, however you can still submit a late application.

To make a late Secondary application for September 2026 please download and complete the Secondary School Admission Form and return it to school.admissions@torfaen.gov.uk
