School Admissions - Appeals Procedure
In the vast majority of cases, children are offered places at their parents/ carers first choice of school.
If, however, your child is unable to gain admission, you will be given detailed reason for that decision and of your statutory right to appeal against that decision.
If your application is refused you will need to decide whether you are willing to accept a place offered at an alternative school or whether you would wish to continue with your first application.
If you choose the latter course, you may appeal to an Independent Appeals Panel and arrangements to hear your appeal will be made during April/May by the Authority's Democratic Services Section.
Further information on the Appeals process can be obtained by contacting Democratic Services, Civic Centre, Pontypool, NP4 6YB or telephone 01495 766294. This also relates to sixth form admissions.
