How often is the green bin emptied?
The garden waste green bin is emptied every 2 weeks (March to November).
What goes in the green wheelie bin?
Yes please
- Garden waste
- Grass cuttings
- Leaves
- Hedge clippings and small twigs
- Dead plants and flowers
- Hay, straw or wood shavings from rabbits, guinea pigs, small herbivore pets
No thank you
- General waste
- Soil, stones, rubble or logs
- Invasive weeds, such as Japanese knotweed
- Animal faeces
- Any garden furniture, whether plastic or wooden
- Large pieces of wood
- Food waste (please use your green and brown caddy)
We will not collect your green bin if it contains any of the rubbish listed above. Please remove the rubbish and put it into your purple lidded bin.
What day will my garden waste be collected?
Use our mapping system to find your waste/recycling collection day.
Missed collections
If your bin was at the collection point by 7am on the day of collection but was not emptied, please let us know immediately by completing the report a missed collection form and we will make arrangements to collect it as soon as possible.

What happens to the garden waste?
Your garden waste will be taken to a facility which changes it into compost for agriculture.
