Location and opening times

Household Recycling Centre, Panteg Way, New Inn.

Summer (29 March 2026 - 24 October 2026)

• Monday to Saturday - 8:00am to 5.45pm
• Sunday - 9:00am to 5.45pm

Winter (25 October 2026 - 27 March 2027)

• Monday to Sunday - 10:00am to 3:45pm

Last vehicle entry will be at the above closing times.

The site is open every day except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Visiting the Household Recycling Centre

The facilities are for Torfaen residents only. All visitors will be asked to present proof of address at the entrance, such as a drivers’ licence, utility bill or council tax bill.

Please also be prepared to be asked what items you are carrying to ensure the site accepts them as well as to be directed to the correct drop off location.

Please separate all waste, including black bags, in advance. The site operates a black bag sorting area for any black bags containing recycling. Please be prepared to sort through waste on site before being allowed to dispose.

Attendants reserve the right to inspect mixed waste bags to confirm they do not contain recyclables, or hazardous items before accepting for disposal.

Violence and abuse will not be tolerated and staff wear body cameras for public and staff protection.

Children and pets must remain inside vehicles at all times.

Vehicles which fall under the permit policy can access the site, on a pre-booked basis only, between 10.00am and 3.00pm during the winter and 8:00am and 4:30pm through the summer.

Please note suspected trade visitors will be asked to sign disclaimers upon entry to the site.

What can be recycled at the site?

• Wood, car batteries, white goods and fridges, large domestic appliances and small domestic appliances (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment)
• Vapes
• Paint
• TVs
• Carpets
• Florescent tubes
• Mattresses
• Rigid plastics
• Plasterboard
• UPVC windows
• Household hazardous chemicals
• Engine oil
• Cooking oil
• Grass, hedge and tree cuttings
• Rubble and hardcore are also accepted for reuse, though limited to small household quantities (this material must be bagged)

Please keep all these waste streams clean and separated.

Asbestos

If you are considering dismantling a structure that you believe contains asbestos, please visit the Health and Safety Executive (opens in new tab) website.

Alternatively if you wish to dispose of small amounts of asbestos at the Household Recycling Centre you must contact Call Torfaen on 01495 762200.

What cannot be recycled at the site?

Japanese Knotweed and Himalayan Balsam are not accepted at the Household Recycling Centre. Other than batteries, tyres and engine oil the site cannot accept any automotive parts.

DIY/renovation waste

DIY/renovation waste is not permitted into the Household Recycling Centre in any type of vehicle (van, trailer or car). If you want to deposit this type of waste you should:

• Obtain a skip from a private waste management company, or
• Pay the weighbridge costs to FCC Environmental at the Household Recycling Centre. Residents should contact FCC Environmental on 01495 755890 regarding their waste charges
• Use a private company which is an authorised waste carrier. The company must provide you with a waste transfer note which states where the waste is going for disposal.

DIY waste is defined as the waste produced as a result of a major renovation or DIY project to your property.

Examples of such projects include – renewing your bathroom suite or kitchen, digging up your garden to lay a patio, knocking down internal walls or chimney breasts. This is not an exhaustive list. If you have any queries, please contact 01495 762200.
