Active Travel Annual Progress Report 2019/20
The actions taken to promote active travel journeys
- Identifying and designing route signage improvements required.
- Continued to deliver National Standards cycle training and the traditional cycling proficiency training which provided young cyclists with the necessary training to be safer and more competent cyclists.
- Kerbcraft training was delivered to 500+ school pupils to give young pupils the skills and road safety awareness to be safer pedestrians.
- Support schools generally with walk & cycle to school messages.
- Support individual schools with communications to address school gate congestion concerns.
The actions taken to secure new active travel routes and related facilities and improvements
- LTF/ATF funding was provided to construct Edlogan Way AT scheme phase 1.
- Core allocation funding provided for one new short AT route and the upgrading of several routes.
- Safety barriers on walking route to Cwmbran High school were changed for more AT friendly designs.
- Continued design work on INM upgrades and A4042 AT route
