Additional Learning Needs Complaints
Schools
If you do not agree with a school's decision regarding whether your child has an additional learning need, you should discuss this with your school's additional learning needs co-ordinator.
If you still have concerns, you can ask Torfaen Council to reconsider the school's decision.
The council
The council can be contacted at any point in the ALN process to discuss issues or concerns you may with the IDP process or a decision that has been made about your child’s education.
It is important that your concerns are raised at the earliest opportunity. In the first instance please contact your named LA officer who will be happy to help you (named on the letters you have received from us).
Where disagreements occur, we will seek to work with you to try and resolve the matter. However, where matters cannot be resolved, and the matter is part of a formal SENTW appeal a more formal Disagreement Resolution and mediation may be required as part of the process.
Parent Partnership Service

The service will talk through any concerns you have and to help you prepare for discussions, attending meetings and visiting schools with you if you wish.
