Pontypool Regeneration Partnership
In 1999 Pontypool Community Council and Torfaen County Borough Council initiated the Pontypool Regeneration Partnership (PRP), to guide both the strategic direction and implementation of regeneration initiatives. The PRP comprises elected Members from Torfaen County Borough Council and Pontypool Community Council plus a wide range of representatives from other public organisations and the private and voluntary sectors.
The Partnership has a budget of £30,000 per annum towards project work within the town. Recent projects include sponsorship of planters and other floral displays, environmental improvements and improvements to the CCTV network.
In addition, the PRP has invested heavily in events in Pontypool. PRP provides grant to support major events such as Pontypool Party in the Park. PRP also funds an events programme for 2017 working in partnership with the Friends of Pontypool Town.
Finally, the PRP is also providing important contributions to major projects such as the Townscape Heritage Initiative, refurbishment of Pontypool Indoor Market and improvements to the pedestrianised area of George Street and Commercial Street.
