Dangerous Structures and Public Safety
The Building Control functions of local authorities also deal with Dangerous Structures. Legislation in the Building Act 1984 gives the local Authority powers to remove any danger posed by structures.
Possible dangerous structures may include derelict buildings, retaining walls, boundary walls or hoarding and loose roof tiles.
As part of executing these powers the local authority shall take necessary steps to ensure the health and safety of the public.
To report a dangerous structure within the borough call:
- 01633 647300 (09:00 - 17:00)
- 01495 762200 (Out of office hours)
