Disability Sport Wales
The Disability Sport Wales National Community Development Programme is a joint initiative between Sports Wales, Disability Sport Wales and the 22 local authorities across Wales.
The scheme is aimed at developing quality community based sporting and recreational opportunities for disabled people throughout Wales.
- Creating and developing new and existing clubs
- Accrediting clubs/groups through the insport programme
- Establishing a sustainable volunteer network
- Identify and support volunteers and coaches through courses.
Within the locality there are a number of opportunities for people with a disability to volunteer/coach and participate in. If there is a sport or activity you would like to try or have a suggestion on a new disability sports club/group to be added to the Torfaen Disability Sports Programme or if you would like to get involved, please feel free to contact the Disability Sport Wales Development Officer.
New clubs are opening all the time as the facilities become available and as more coaches/volunteers get involved. If you think you would like to volunteer your services to a club there are always opportunities within the clubs in Torfaen and I can assist in obtaining training for you to become a qualified coach/volunteer in your chosen sport/activity.
For more information on sports clubs and groups visit the Disability Sport Wales website and have a look what you can get involved with in and around Torfaen.
Alternatively please contact the Disability Sport Wales Development Officer to register and get regular updates straight to your door.
