Gwent Local Resilience Forum Volunteers Group
Voluntary agencies play an important part of the response to emergencies. The following organisations are part of the Gwent Local Resilience Forum Volunteers Group.
- Gwent RAYNET Group - The Radio Amateurs Emergency Network provides communication tools to overlay or fill gaps in the communication networks during an incident. The equipment can send both sound and data.
- St John's Ambulance - Can provide First Aid assistance, Ambulances, Qualified Medics and other First Aid resources. They can also help provide extra manpower to attend rest centres and Temporary shelters.
- Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA) - Provides In-shore rescue boat and land search services for the Severn Estuary and upper reaches of the River Severn.
- WRVS (Formally The Women's Royal Voluntary Service) - Provide staff at reception centres, rest centres and at the scene itself and will conduct evacuee registration. They can also provide catering for responding personnel and victims.
- The Salvation Army - Can provide meals and snacks for responders and victims. They can also provide clothing and shelter, relative tracking service and staff to assist in admin requirements of the incident.
- Gwent Victim Support - Provide free and confidential support to victims.
- British Red Cross - Can provide First Aid, manpower, qualified Doctors and Nurses, vehicles, shelter, welfare assistance and nursing at Rest Centres and also at Temporary Mortuaries. The British Red Cross will also co-ordinate appeal funds for victims of the disaster.
- Cruse Bereavement Care - Exists to promote the well-being of bereaved people and to enable anyone bereaved by death to understand their grief and cope with their loss.
- South Wales Search & Rescue Association - Is the co-ordinating body for South Wales and includes Brecon Mountain Rescue, Central Beacons Mountain Rescue, Longtown Mountain Rescue, South Wales Cave Rescue Association (SWCRO), Western Beacons Mountain Rescue & South Wales Mountain Rescue Search Dogs (SARDA).
