Severe Weather
Severe weather such as gales, floods, snowfall and extremes of temperatures can cause damage to homes, businesses, put lives at risk and can disrupt transportation and local services.
Torfaen County Borough Council plays an important part in assessing the risks associated with severe weather and the co-ordinated response needed in the recovery from any severe weather event.
For information on any current weather warnings or any forecast severe weather visit the Met Office website.
Transportation & Roads
During severe weather roads can become blocked and public transportation can be limited. Torfaen County Borough Council co-ordinates the clearing of roads in the borough and tries to keep the primary routes open as a priority. Residential and minor roads may remain unclear so care is advised if travelling during severe weather.
Advice on any road closures or restrictions to public transport will be broadcast on your local radio stations and you may be advised to leave your car at home.
