Fleet and transport emissions

We are in the process of decarbonising our fleet of more than 100 vehicles.

The term decarbonisation means stopping emissions of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

Since 2019/20, carbon emissions from fleet vehicles have reduced by 53 per cent.

What are we doing?

  • We are transitioning fleet vehicles to low or zero carbon alternatives. Currently, 15 per cent of the council’s fleet is electric.
  • We have installed a new grid sub-station at our Ty Blaen site in New Inn which will enable the council to increase its electric vehicle fleet and charging infrastructure.
  • In 2023, we invested in two electric waste lorries.
  • We have installed EV chargers at many of our sites and schools, which enables our fleet, commuters and the wider public to charge their vehicles.
