Cwmbran Library has been renamed following an increased demand for community activities and support.
Cwmbran Community Hub and Library already offers a range of social clubs, groups, well-being and digital inclusion support, access to Citizens Advice and council customer services - just to mention a few!
Drop in events are now being held to encourage other community groups and organisations to use the space.
Stephanie Morgan, team leader, said: “These days libraries celebrate books and so much more - they are places where people can learn new skills, meet new people and find out what's going on in their local communities.
"One of the key points to come out of the Torfaen Deal Citizens' Assembly was the importance of providing information to communities. Libraries are a key part of that."
Recent customer surveys have shown visitors like having different groups and organisations under one roof in a central location.
Janet Morris, from Cwmbran, who attends digital drop-in sessions at the hub and library said: “It’s a nice atmosphere and everyone’s helpful. The drop‑in gives me confidence to use my own devices, and it’s great to have a place to go to ask my questions.”
Last year, Cwmbran Community Hub and Library was renovated to create brighter and more flexible spaces and there are plans to develop Blaenavon and Pontypool libraries as community hubs in the coming years.
A Friends of Cwmbran Community Hub and Library is being set up. Call in for more information.
