Two award-winning female entrepreneurs have spoken of their passion for their businesses.
Debbie Gliniany and Vicki Spencer-Francis shared their insights into running award-winning companies at Thursday's Women in Business event.
Debbie, who set up Mamau Ffit, decided to follow her heart after becoming interested in fitness and women's health.
The mum-of-two, from Cwmbran, who set up her business in January 2020, said: "I have found my passion - I get to make a difference to people's lives. Self-belief has been my biggest tool - I followed my passion to get me where I am today and I will continue to do so."
Vicki Spencer-Francis, Managing Director of Cowshed Communications, was also a guest speaker at the event at the Parkway Hotel, in Cwmbran.
Vicki, from Raglan, who set up her PR company in January 2014, said: "I wanted to make sure my business was as meaningful as it could be. We've stayed true to our purpose - everything we deliver has true meaning, value and impact."
The event, which was funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, was attended by more than 100 businesswomen.
The evening included live entertainment, networking opportunities and a mini Christmas market.
Proceeds from the evening and a raffle were donated to Cyfannol Women's Aid, which supports victims of domestic abuse and sexual violence and their families.
Councillor Joanne Gauden, Executive Member for Economy, Skills and Regeneration, said: "I'd like to thank the Parkway Hotel for donating the room and to Barclays Bank for match funding the money raised by the raffle.
"It's not often we get the chance to be in a room full of women in business and the hive mind it creates is something special.
"We're here because of the progress made by our mothers and grandmothers. Events like tonight show how much progress has been made but also what else can be achieved when we work together."
The event was organised by the council's business engagement team.
