Nearly 300 community groups and organisations now use the Connect Torfaen website to promote their events and services.
There are around 400 community listings on the site on average every month, making it Torfaen’s one-stop-shop for local activities and events.
CoStar Partnership in Fairwater, Cwmbran, has been using the site since its launch in 2021.
Samantha Lowery, from CoStar (pictured), said: “Connect Torfaen is a fantastic platform for advertising all of our upcoming events and regular group activities. Being on the site has increased the number of people who take part in our events and activities. It has also enhanced our connections with other groups and events, benefiting both CoStar and our clients.”
Having a variety of groups and listings in one place is also helping residents connect with their communities.
Brenda Flewelling, from the Allsorts Club, in Cwmbran, which meets to play board games and learn crafts, said: “It’s very useful to have all the information in one place so that I can pass it on to others.”
The Connect Torfaen website is free to join and allows groups to promote events and services, highlight volunteering opportunities and connect with other local organisations.
Cllr Fiona Cross, Executive Member for Communities, added: “Connect is an invaluable resource for our community, bringing together a wide range of services and events in one accessible online hub. Groups and local organisations can benefit greatly by joining, gaining visibility and connecting with a new and growing audience more effectively.”
The Connect Torfaen website is run by Torfaen Voluntary Association and supported by Torfaen Council and Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.
