Domestic Homicide Reviews (DHR)

A Domestic Homicide Review is a review of circumstances leading up to the death of a person aged 16 or over as a result of violence, abuse or neglect.

The purpose is to establish what lessons can be learnt by professionals and organisations working to safeguard domestic abuse victims.

If it is decided a Domestic Homicide Review needs to take place, the Community Safety Partnership will appoint an Independent Chair of the Review Panel and they will contact the family members and friends of the deceased to guide them through the process.

Support for families is provided through Victim Support

Once reviews are complete and agreed by the Home Office, they are published and available on the Home Office website.

Domestic Homicide Reviews do not replace but are in addition to any inquest or another form of inquiry into the homicide.

Completed reviews in Torfaen (if available) can be found below.
