Personal Alcohol Licence - Applying for a Licence
Licence Summary |
A personal alcohol licence authorises an individual to supply, or to authorise the supply, of alcohol. Personal licences currently have a renewal date. We are currently waiting for legislation to remove this requirement, this is anticipated to take place late 2015.

Eligibility Criteria |
Applicants must:
- be the holder of a personal alcohol licence
- be applying for a renewal no earlier than 3 months but no later than 1 month of the expiry date currently shown on their personal licence

Application Evaluation Process |
You must submit an application form to the Licensing department using the application to renew a personal licence form. There is no requirement to submit a criminal disclosure, fee or photograph, provided the application is submitted within the specified time criteria. Either the original licence or copy of the licence must be returned with the application.

Does Tacit Approval apply? |
No, tacit approval will not apply. As long as the application form has been completed correctly, and submitted to the correct licensing authority, together with the licence or an explanation for its absence, the licence will remain valid until the application has been determined.

Failed Application Redress |
Please contact your Local Authority in the first instance.
If an application for a licence is refused the failed applicant can appeal to the Magistrates' Court, within 21 days of notice of the decision.
