Greenmeadow Community Farm re-opened its doors on Saturday 13 September following a multimillion-pound transformation.
The relaunched visitor destination welcomed over 1,000 visitors on its first weekend of opening and has signed up over 4,000 members in the first three weeks of sales.
Torfaen's Executive Member for Communities, Cllr Fiona Cross, said: “It was fantastic to see families on the farm and we're really excited to welcome all visitors back. I would really like to thank the community and our volunteers who have never stopped supporting the farm.
"The transformation is amazing and our investment in the farm and the new facilities will provide the next generation of visitors with the opportunity make great fun family memories and learn about animals, food and farming."
The transformation to the farm includes a brand-new indoor Play Barn so that families can make the most of their visit no matter the weather. The site also has a brand-new Adventure Playground and Animal Barn for more opportunities to get up close with animals with walk-through enclosures for giant rabbits and chickens, as well as a goat playground and Cuddle Corner, where visitors can cwtch rabbits, guinea pigs, rats and tortoises.
A regular schedule of activities includes tractor and trailer rides around the farm to visit the paddocks, and opportunities for animal feeding, grooming and milking demonstrations.
Farm Manager, Jac Griffiths said: “It’s been so amazing for the team to have people back on site and enjoying the new experiences on the farm. We’ve been overwhelmed with the support from the public, and to have sold so many memberships demonstrates just how much love the farm has from the local community."
The farmhouse was originally built in 1752, and the transformation has seen the development of a stunning new oak framed extension to the back of the farmhouse has added a new 90 seat Farmer's Table restaurant and cafe which will be open to the general public to walk in as well as farm visitors. The Haybarn has been transformed into a wedding and event venue, with catering also provided by the Farmer’s Table.
