Torfaen County Borough Council is inviting applications from community groups and organisations for grants of up to £1000 via the Welsh Church Fund. This fund provides financial support to projects that benefit the local community and align with the charitable purposes of the scheme.
Who can apply?
Community groups, voluntary organisations, and local charities operating within Torfaen are encouraged to apply. Projects should demonstrate clear community benefit and meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the fund guidelines which can be found as part of the application form.
How to apply
Applications should be submitted using the official application form, available in the application pack below. Please ensure you read the application pack to ensure that you provide all documentation and details about your project as required by the application form.
Applications from community groups and charitable organisations will need to provide the following documentation to support progression of the application:
- A copy of your most recent accounts
- A recent bank statement (less than 3 months old)
- A copy of your constitution or memorandum

Deadline for applications
The deadline for submission of completed applications, including all supporting documents are detailed below:
- 8 am on Monday 21st September 2026*
- 8 am on Monday 19th October 2026*
*Applications received after the September deadline will be considered following the next available deadline.
The funding available is limited and the scheme will be closed without notice once the fund has been fully utilised. Please note: This may occur before all scheduled panel dates have taken place.
Applications for individuals experiencing hardship or financial crisis
Individuals experiencing hardship or financial crisis can also apply for assistance through the Welsh Church Fund by contacting the Customer Care Team on 01495 762200 to be referred to Early Intervention and Prevention Hub for an assessment and consideration of needs. Individual applicants will need to provide evidence of income and expenditure to support the application.
