Our Dietitian’s Choice
A true school lunch favourite, this comforting classic has been brought back by popular demand. Creamy mashed potato, sweet onions and mild Welsh Cheddar cheese are combined to create a deliciously golden, satisfying pie that's sure to become a favourite with a new generation of pupils.
Served with mixed vegetables and broccoli, this hearty meal is packed with flavour and goodness. The cheesy potato filling provides energy to keep pupils fuelled throughout the afternoon, while the Welsh Cheddar contributes calcium to support strong bones and healthy teeth.
Warm, wholesome and wonderfully comforting, this traditional dish proves that some favourites never go out of style.
Sustainable School Meals
Lower Carbon Impact Choice
This is a lower-carbon menu choice, identified by the globe symbol on the menu. The carbon footprint of all our recipes has been assessed using methodology developed by researchers at the University of Edinburgh. Based on this analysis, this dish is associated with approximately 80% lower greenhouse gas emissions than the Cottage Pie option available on the same day.
Choosing lower-carbon meals is one practical way to reduce the environmental impact of food consumption, making this a great option for pupils and families seeking more sustainable food choices.
Supporting Welsh Producers
We use Welsh-produced cheddar cheese and milk across our menus, supporting Welsh farmers, businesses and employment within the regional food supply chain. Sourcing dairy products from Wales contributes to shorter supply chains and reduced transport distances, while maintaining high standards of quality, freshness and traceability.
