Equalities and Welsh Language

On these pages you will find all things relating the Council’s policies on equality issues. These pages are dedicated for the use of officers and of elected members.

You will find pages explaining the method for registering for on-line training opportunities on issues relating to equality in the workplace and how we can give responsive services for all our customers and the citizens of Torfaen. You can also register an interest in attending face-to-face seminar classes organised by the team on specific equality issues.

Also contained within this section of Swoop are links to policies and procedures to assist you in dealing with issues that relate to equality and fair treatment and Welsh Language. There are also policies that explain some of the Councils commitments to the public including the Councils Strategic Equality Plan and the Councils Welsh Language Scheme. Related topics such as the Council’s policies and interventions on domestic violence and the work on mental health in the workplace are also covered.

You will also find further information and advice on dealing with the new emerging issues such Human trafficking and Anti-Slavery, and how to report and deal successfully with Hate Crime incidents.
