Greenmeadow Farm - Ready to hand out with us poster

Colleagues

We’re only a little over a week away from the much-anticipated reopening of the transformed Greenmeadow Community Farm on Saturday the 13th of September.

You’re no doubt aware the farm has been undergoing a major revamp to transform it into a top-quality visitor destination for Torfaen and for South Wales.

Last week we held a Joint Executive Team meeting in the Haybarn and I’ve visited the farm several times over recent weeks, and the renovation is looking truly amazing.

The site now needs the current rain and sun to continue to help the landscape green up and grow, but the new facilities are first class.

I’ve two final calls to arms for all staff.

  1. If you have any contact from the farm team over the next week with tasks requiring your support, please treat as urgent and give it the highest priority.
  2. If you wish to undertake some team volunteering and team bonding in the great outdoors, there are still opportunities this week to give a few hours and join farm colleagues and an army of volunteers with a range of tasks to make the site ship shape and ready for opening.

Contact Rhys Parker – rhys.parker@torfaen.gov.uk to make arrangements and please discuss with your manager / head of service.  The volunteer dates for this week are:

  • Thursday 4th September – 09.30 - 12.30 & 13.30 - 16.30
  • Friday 5th September – 09.30 - 12.30 & 13.30 - 16.30

A member of the Farm team will meet all volunteers in the main farm car park and allocate tasks or areas to work in.

Please wear clothing and footwear suitable for being on what might be by then a muddy and not dusty farm!

There are lots of low-level tasks and finishing touches to get the farm ready for visitors including general cleansing of a big site, and putting obsolete farm or construction waste from around the site into skips.

And finally, once open there is great WIFI and bookable spaces with catering from Baxter Storey for anyone looking for a different environment for team meetings or events.

Volunteering will give you a sneak peek of what you can expect down at the farm!

Regards

Stephen
